Michael O’ Hanlon is Director of Eureka Community Development Services and a trained social worker who has had more than 30 years experience facilitating groups in a wide range of settings in both Australia and New Zealand. Michael has a Master of Business (Public Sector Management) Victoria University, 2002, a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Melbourne, 1978 and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Auckland, 1985. More recently he has begun training in Visual arts with the Footscray Community Arts Centre. Michael exhibits his mixed media works regularly.

Michael has facilitated a wide range of groups in a variety of settings having worked both in Australia and New Zealand. These include support groups, encounter groups, therapeutic groups, staff training groups, cross-cultural groups, strategic planning groups, project control groups, men’s groups, self help groups, carer support groups, and community development groups.

Michael’s style is engaging and supportive. As well as taking people through content based learning experiences, Michael can also train people in understanding and managing group dynamics, helping everyone to understand how they interact with the group and assisting them to reach a degree of participation they and the group are happy with.

Recent clients include the Brotherhood of St Laurence where he assisted the Brotherhood to develop partnerships with existing service providers in an area new to them, and AMES (Adult Migrant Education Services) where he workshopped and help prepare a successful funding submission to the Commonwealth government. Michael recently facilitated a number of sessions for Urban Village Melbourne, assisting the group to engage with the community more effectively. Michael also offers project mentoring services to UVM members and is currently assisting with Chapter House and Hosier Lane projects.
